01-14-2012: Fiji Time!!

My favorite part of Fiji: Fiji Time. No ones in a rush, everyone's on island time. Ask what time the boat leaves, they say "ehhh Fiji time Fiji time." Need something from the front desk...they'll be back in Fiji time. Ask what the weather is gonna be like for the day, they say beautiful and sunny! And then it pours. Gotta love it.

Today the weather was fiiinally warm and sunny. Here was our day: karina and I woke up at 6:30 due to our friends the birds chirping our ears off. We ate some breakfast, then laid by the ocean for a while, then went snorkeling. First time ever!! We didn't go too deep tho (yes I was being a big baby), so we batted our eyelashes and found some fearless Fijian men to take us out. We kayaked (well, karina kayaked, my guy told me he preferred to swim so he pushed the kayak while I sat) out to another part of the beach and snorkled. So cool!!! Glad I'm not a fish though, not really a fan of the whole underwater breathing thing. We saw blue starfish, lots of crazy fish, a sea cucumber and a sea worm/snake thing. And we got to touch some coral...some was hard as a rock and others were squishy like a brain. Pretty cool.

After our snorkeling we made some jewelry out of coconuts and tried not to get hit as they fell from the trees. Then we ate some fried ice cream and samosas for lunch, swam a little more then took a snooze by the pool. While my back is finally healing from my fall and my burn is slowly turning to a tan...karina has finally joined mike and me and has a sunburn. Poor thing. Side note about sunburns: SPF 15 really does work. Karina used SPF 15 and only burned in the places where she forgot to reapply. Looks like we can ditch the 50 now and start tanning.
