We started our Monday morning by watching football (what else?) and seeing the pats win! Woohoo! Strangely a lot of french Canadians were watching the game but didn't seem to care at all haha but Alexa and I cheered at least! Bring on the Super Bowl! We will have to find a place to watch it 2 Mondays from now....
I now write from the ferry to manly beach! Woohoo first beach time in australia...hope it's great! Poor mike has been struggling lately he even claimed he would go vegetarian for a few days but forgot by the next meal so it didn't help much. Oh well I am very happy with my veggie meals and have no food issues thus far! We switch hostels tomorrow to one with a Better kitchen so the plan is to cook a lot more, going out is getting old!
Ok to answer some questions.... They drive on the left and sometimes it seems like they walk on the left too. Escalators are on the left too and you keep left to let people pass! Crossing streets is getting easier but still sometimes really disorienting and I can't predict where the car will come from! I saw my car yesterday with the steering wheel on the right! So crazy! They don't call it a versa tho, something different but it's the same car! Apparently toilets do flush backwards here but I can't tell because so far all the ones have water just flush straight down! What else... No kangaroos in the streets but big birds called ibis are like pigeons here (they have pigeons too) ! There is a place that sells kangaroo pizza but our tour guide says kangaroo isn't really a common thing that Aussies eat. We had Tim tams and they are just as amazing as everyone says! No Vegemite yet...
Anyway beach today and Thursday is Australia day with fireworks over the harbor! Whenever we ask what to do the answer is always "get drunk"... Gotta embrace the culture, right? When in Australia....
