...hermit crabs that is! They are everywhere!! Cuties all running along the beach! Alexa fought her fears and held a few! Mike caught a tadpole!
We finally got a real night sleep... So wonderful!
It rained all night and this morning so our island trip was postponed till Monday oh welll... Instead we ate breakfast and then the rain stopped so we explored the beach! Next activity: Basket weaving... Normally the man in charge of activities will bang on a huge drum for a few beats and then yell "beach volleyball" or "happy hour" so we were waiting to hear "BASKET WEAVING" and never did! We asked if it was still happening and the man said " one minute" then left, returned with a machete , left again and came back shortly after with a big palm leaf!
It was fun but basically he made the whole basket for us ... Aka mike didn't touch his and Alexa and I did our best
We have made some interesting friends so far! Our dorm is mostly kiwis who are nice but loud! I am learning that swearing is necessary for them every 3 words or so but they are very laid back! There is a nice couple from London who are in the middle of a 6 month honeymoon around the world-not bad! We met a man living on the gold coast so between everyone we are getting some good travel tips for Australia and nz!
The plan for the day includes lunch snorkeling lounging trip to town happy hour dinner bonfire (hopefully it won't rain again) ... So pretty big day ahead!
I think i should take some time to acknowledge that we have had some issues so far. This begins the #fijiproblems portion of our blog. There was a broken hammock that was pretty frustrating . The water was off when we went to shower so we had to wait. And Alexa's dinner came with one too many crab cakes so luckily mike ate one- crisis averted!! We have all experienced at least one brain freeze. And we live in the constant (and real) fear of a coconut falling on our heads. We are persevering tho and keeping the morale up so far during these challenging times!
In other news mike continues a liquid diet, mike and Alexa are sadly both sunburned, I love the food here and it's nice to be in summer!
I'll include some basket weaving pics as well as where I sit as I write this... Hope you enjoy!
